Aileemah Cannon Horton, Licensed Associate Counselor
Aileemah Cannon Horton is a Licensed Associate Counselor and family therapist. From the time she was a teenager she knew that she had an enthusiasm for engaging in helping young people and their families. Originally, she thought that path would be through education, but in undergrad she realized that her natural disposition drew her peers to her for recommendations for resources, guidance and sometimes just to have a listening ear. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Family and Child Studies from Montclair State University, a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from New York Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling: Clinical Mental Health from Kean University.
Aileemah has extensive experience in working with young people and their families and she has worked for the past 8 years in Juvenile Justice where she provides intensive case management and monitoring to youth on Detention Alternatives and prior to that she was employed as a Family Service Specialist with DCPP (formerly known as DYFS).
As a family therapist, she has found deep passion in working with individuals dealing with Anxiety, Grief, Depression, Family, and relationship issues. She utilizes an integrative approach that includes Person Centered theory with CBT, Mindfulness, DBT and Adlerian components.
Clients who choose to work with Aileemah can expect to work with someone who is compassionate, respectful, culturally aware, considerate, open minded and above all dedicated to helping others reach their desired goals.
